Society bottles should become cooler.

Ofcourse this is only my opinion, but I think they should be bottled in the new type of bottle. The girlylike bottle with the springbank text embossed on it.

Instead of white paper I would prefer the recycled looking paper thats also used for Wood expression, ofcourse this shouldnt exactly be the same.

I don't think this would cost the distillery a lot of money and they would still look basic enough.

The word society sounds exclusive so the bottles could use a bit of exclusivity (is that a word?) on the looks.

Who agrees with me? (I expect about 500 reactions so keep typing Razz)

Greets, Moore.

Hi Moore,

I prefer to keep it with the present bottlings. So the tradition will go on and the style of labeling is very easy to reconize.
However I hope there will be some consistancy in the colour of the box; black for longrow, white for Hazelburn and what about darkred/beige for Springbank.

Ey Bram and everyone else.

Thats so "the same as always". Springbank often changes their labels, look at the new 10 Years old bottle, they had the previous label for a few months but they changed it again. Look at this, and dont laugh Cool

I guess you will quickly notice this is not a real bottle (lol!) but it's just one of my good ideas, the picture is a concept made in 2 minutes in the middle of the night, so take the idea seriously, not the picture, if the distillery wants I can work it out for them and create the best label they had so far.

What is it with you guys that makes you so afraid of changes Razz Anyway I do think that the word "society" breaths a sort of exclusivity and that the society bottles don't. (On the outsides, ofcourse, because the whisky is very good) The distillery said the bottles look at wack because they are only ment to drink, but if you got a tray of 10 open bottles in your home you do want them to look a bit cool. Razz I think the distillery needs to totally step over to the new bottle. Wouldn't this make the private, society and perhaps a new 21 year old bottle with the same rugged brown label as they used to have much cooler?

Have a look at The Tasting Room blog and you can see a collection of Society Bottlings (http://www.the-tastingroom.com/index.php?offset=21). That's "cool" and tasted even better Very Happy ! This serie should not be changed.

Why do you want to make them look the same as the Wood Expressions ??? That's another serie so it should look different. But don't worry... I'll buy them anyway. Because I buy them for the whisky, not for the bottle and not for the label Wink .

Hi there

I really agree with Bram and Frank - no changes please!!!

The society-bottlings have now a certain look and the society members know very well theire bottles.

Thats incorporated in the human nature.
A change of design will do (almost) nothing to me. The content is the important thing and that the whisky is not chill-filtered, colored and no water has been added.
I also throw away all empty bottles and boxes.

and they should not

because I don't think that it's the role of Springbank to provide you with some kind of everywhere and everytime and always-changing new and cool and groovy lifestyle stuff. Springbank hopefully keeps providing us with affordable Society bottlings containing great Single Malt.
And to say "thank you" in return, we better keep drinking those and not selling 'em on the next auction. ( oh well, they might sell better there if they were cooler, but that's not the point we're talking about)

If you are looking for those stylish and cool stuff regarding bottles, there might be others who can do you the favour ( anybody there who thinks what I'm thinking about ? ). Every other week another colour and so on....

I don't think people are afraid of these everlasting changes; many are just tired and sick of those changes for change's sake.
And there might be some who even get suspicious if there are always changes. With all these fancy changing, perhaps the only aim might be to obscure there is no change in substance or content, but only in package and wrapping and cover.

mightbe that's sth. to mull over ?

best wishes,

Lorenz

Anyway, what's wrong with the Society bottles? When you look around a whisky shop these days everybody is using weird and wonderful bottle shapes and flashy packaging. The Society bottles are nicely understated. What's cooler than that?

Just be glad you can get hold of the Society bottles, as shipping to the US is a problem for them. I would take then with whatever packaging they come with.

Maybe the Society can take a look at what Ardbeg did and provide a US release. Or collect a bunch of orders and have them distributed through a single store (Binnys, Park Ave. or K&L seem to be the most serious).

Or work with a UK retailer who will ship to the US (several exist).

Any thoughts on this?

BTW, I have really enjoyed Stuart's post on the whiskymaking process in the Tasting Room. Great information in just the right dose.

I like the societypackaging and my opinion is that it should be a little different than the usual "corerange" bottles. No need to change this.

Unfortunately we can't ship to USA, but if you do have a retailer who ships to you we wouldn't have a problem sending your Society bottles to them to ship with another order.
