The latest Springbank Society bottle was released last week. I think it's an excellent dram but would like to hear your opinion if you've managed to taste it.

Post your opinions and/or tasting notes here and then I'll share mine.

Hi whiskyfriends,
after overcomming some difficulties I am able to post in this forum again. At beginning I was a little diappointed about the new bottling- but giving it some time and further attention I must say it's a quiet interesting one- thanks again to all you at Springbank!
kind regards
Andreas

Hi Ranald

My society bottle arrived me last week and I must say I was really surprised that Frank has done this vatting. The idea to take a cask no.18 and an other cask with the no. 28 and to create a new whisky is excellent.

Many thanks to Frank

Hi Janet, Peter, Ranald,
everyone at Springbank and forum members,

last week the Society bottling arrived with my membership card, and I was delighted.
I opened the bottle on Sunday with two friends of mine, and we came to the conclusion that it was a marvellous expression of classic Springbank indeed. Besides, a great value-for-money bottling, too.

Moreover I wanted to use this opportunity and space to say a big thank you to Janet and Peter, who both handled everything necessary to get me posting here in extra short spell.

So let me tell you explicitly, that I think there's absolutely nothing to complain about in terms of Springbanks dealing with its Society members at all. And if sometimes information seems to come a little bit later, well in my opinion it's great to see that at least somewhere people know what the primary aim is to concentrate on. In case of Springbank, it is of course a very special distillery, whose main business is producing fine Single Malt Whisky for us to enjoy, and that's exactly what they are doing down there in Campbeltown Exclamation
I feel honoured to be a member of their Society.

best wishes to all,
keep it going,

Lorenz

I agree with ranald; this is an excellent dram.

nose; lightly peated, sherry notes, raisins and chocolate are coming through
taste; wee bit salty, smoky, woody, dark fruit
finish; a 3-step finish, 1st dark fruit again, 2nd disappearing for a little while and last the smoke and wood stays in my mouth for a much longer time.

I'm quite happy with this dram and i really look forward for the 18yo Springbank expression in 2009.

Bram

Hi there

We are thinking about what we can give you next. Frank has been away on business, but now that he has returned we can get down to the serious business of finding something for our Society members. Hopefully it will not be too long before we make the announcement.

Janet
